Episode 23 – Economics Professor Ken Schoolland

In episode 23 of The Peace Radicals Marc J. Victor and Andy Marcantel converse with a special guest, Professor Ken Schoolland. Ken is an economics professor, author of The Adventures of Jonathan Gullible: A Free Market Odyssey, and former president of Liberty International, and Chairperson of the Libertarian Party of Hawai‘i. Ken explains how using humor in his book has helped people to understand the absurdities of certain laws, the controls imposed on people’s lives, and the economic drawbacks of these laws. He also explains what the Jones Act is and how it financially hurts the people of Hawai‘i. They discuss why this is considered crony capitalism and how that differs from true capitalism. They theorize that the growing socialist movement in the US is caused by the lack of understanding of these two different types of capitalism.
